Patient Information
A first visit should hold no surprises. Here is exactly what happens, what to bring, and how we handle appointments.
Your first appointment, step by step
- 01
Tell us why you are coming
A routine check, a specific pain, or a cosmetic goal — we schedule different lengths of appointment for different reasons.
- 02
Medical history
We review medications and health conditions first, because they affect anaesthetic, healing and gum health.
- 03
Examination and imaging
A full examination of teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, with digital images taken only where clinically indicated.
- 04
Findings, shown on screen
We walk you through the photographs and radiographs, and explain what needs attention now versus what can be monitored.
- 05
A written plan
You leave with options, a recommended sequence, and costs in writing — with no expectation of deciding on the spot.
What to bring
- Photo identification and your insurance card, if you have dental coverage.
- A list of current medications, including supplements.
- Details of any medical conditions, allergies or recent surgery.
- Recent radiographs from a previous dentist, if you can obtain them.
- For a child, the name of their paediatrician and anything that helps them feel comfortable.
Practical details
- Office hours
- Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM · Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM · Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM · Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM · Friday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM · Saturday: By appointment · Sunday: Closed
- Arrive early
- Ten minutes before a first appointment is enough to complete paperwork without rushing.
- Changes and cancellations
- Please give us as much notice as you can — at least 24 hours where possible — so the time can be offered to someone waiting.
- Records transfers
- Tell us your previous dentist and we will request your records and imaging so nothing is repeated unnecessarily.
Anxious about dental visits?
Say so when you book. We schedule extra time, agree a hand signal that stops treatment immediately, explain each step before it happens, and are content to spend a first appointment simply talking and examining. Nothing is done on the day that you have not agreed to.
Do you see children?
Yes. We care for patients of every age — see our Family Dentistry page for how children's visits are structured.
Can I bring a family member into the room?
Of course. Many patients feel more comfortable with someone present, and parents are always welcome with children.
What if I have not seen a dentist in years?
You are not the first and you will not be judged. We start where you are, stabilise anything urgent, and build a realistic plan from there.
